Team OS/2 Deutschland e.V.

Test the program and give feedback about success and/or bugs

No software in the world is bugfree, therefore also we depend on feedback about success as well as errors. With the exception of registered eComStation users (please see below) we would like to kindly ask you to send your report via email to the project team with the information included in this section.

For a useful report we certainly need some data in order to figure out, what did work well and what not. Team OS/2 Internet Assistant for OS/2 and eComStation supports you by writing detailed logfiles, which you please zip and attach to every report that you provide. Note that the only data stored in these files, which may be confidential, is the user id for your dial-in, whereas passwords are generally not stored!

The files involved are different according to the used operating system:

  • for all versions of the OS/2 Warp operating system, including all flavours of Convenience Paks and servers etc. please grab the files

    • ?:\os2\install\iaos2\provider\iaos2.log
    • ?:\os2\install\iaos2\provider\response.fil

  • for all versions of the eComStation operating system, please grab the files

    • ?:\ecs\install\iaecs\provider\iaecs.log
    • ?:\ecs\install\iaecs\provider\response.fil

where ?: is a placeholder for the drive that you booted your operation system from, and provider is a placeholder for the provider that the Team OS/2 Internet Assistant for OS/2 and eComStation was packed for. Mostly the provider name will be teamos2, which means, that you have installed a so-called non-branded version. Note that you can have installed branded and non-branded versions beside each other!

To make sure that you don't send us a logfile including the data of the last several hundred tests ;-), you may delete or rename the relevant files before performing the test, which report you would liek to send us. This will keep the email attachment small.

Note for registered eComStation users

Registered eComStation users are kindly asked to use the eComStation BugTracker to provide test reports. please attach the above stated files to the BugTracker record.
